I came across this in a envelope just now and was moved, it's a old letter from my grandparents, both have since passed. After my grandmother left us, I spent the remainder of my grandfather's time (4 years) with him, we took care of each other, he became my best friend and confidante.
During the lockdown he passed away, not a day goes by I don't miss them.

Nice piece "Fella"
Reminds me History comes in two flavors, shared and personal. Stamps issued by the U.S. are shared history, sort of. At least they were.

When I read lettters of Civil War POWs, or 1898 soldiers who served with Teddy Roosevelt, or see covers from WWII that are divined to be from Private so or so who perished at Iwo,I am reminded that history can be very personal. Your letter reminds me of that too. A voice heard long ago that echoes through the abyss of time speaks to you, and now us from sharing. Thanks.
Look upon the great memories and as the Great Jurist O.W. Holmes stated "Go Out and Live!" on the occasion of his 94 birthday.
Cheers, sort of , Mark
