"Its real issue is that it was not snapped up by a large buyer"

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Mark start out as BidStart which was gobbled up by Gibbons and after indigestion spit back out and rebranded as Hip.

eyeonwall, I think you are correct. IIRC, he started it out as StampWants, which he later rebranded to BidStart to reflect additional collectibles categories. Then Gibbons bought BidStart. At least that is how I remember it.

Rosenberg bought back BidStart from Gibbons in 2016 very shortly after the launch of Hip eCommerce.

When Gibbons owned it, many considered it a train wreck.

Rhett - thanks for the StampWants reminder - I thought there was an earlier version, but I couldn't remember the name.

I would assume that Mr. Rosenberg monitors this forum and would have commented on this or the other recent thread concerning HipStamp to explain his perspective. Maybe that would be a no-win proposition, given some of the opinions expressed here.

Morning all,

HipStamp and others run into trouble when their need for greed exceeds there knowledge and love of our hobby; or, for that matter, any market place they try to make bigger bucks off of. Same for dealers and some collectors.
