Hi all,

I have the stamp below:

It is a vignette, but from which period?

I cannot find this stamp in Michel specialised catalogue, or in other catalogues. maybe I am looking wrong.

I think it is a stamp promoting NSDAP. It's a guess.

Does anyone have an idea about the catalogue number or approximate CV?

Greetings to all,

Adam

Looks like 1930's' propaganda vignette.

It's not a postage stamp, so you won't find it in any catalog of postage stamps, Michel or otherwise. Looks to be a propaganda issue, just something the party faithful could add to letters and postcards as decoration or a show of support. My guess is, it was issued between 1920 (when the swastika was adopted) to early 1933 (when Hitler became chancellor).

Thank you plazmatix and classic_paper.

I thought along the same lines: propaganda issue.

I can check a specialized caralogue I have, written by Martin Erler, on the NSDAP stamps. I'm not at home right now but I have seen that one before in Nazi propaganda collections. If it's NSDAP, Erler will have included it.

Give me a few hours then I'll check for you.

Adam - I don't think it's NDSAP, because the stamps (membership, fees, etc.) seem to always say "NSDAP". I'll look around in the meantime, I've seen this with other Nazi leaders on them. Sorry I am so vague right now, I'm at my mother's house taking care of her this evening and don't have my library with me… we'll figure it out! These are fun questions…

Adam - I went through Martin Erler's 1995 catalogue "The Stamps of the NSDAP (Nazi Party) and Its Sub-Organizations", all 93 pages, and I did not see your stamp listed. The catalogue is very well-illustrated, so if it were in this work I would have seen it.

Just trying to eliminate a possibility there…

I did learn that the image was taken directly from a propaganda poster:

This was created in 1932 and was one of the first (if not the first) propaganda poster… it was also used in an election for leader of the Nazi party, apparently. So it is entirely possible that this is an ELECTION stamp.

Here is a little more on the subject, perhaps this would enlighten us a bit more - but my personal assessment is that this is a 1932 election stamp to match the posters that were being plastered all over Germany (with and without the dot over the "i"). Here's a link to more information, in case any one is interested:

Hi Barry,

Thank you so much for this comprehensive information. I really appreciate the time you have taken to research this stamp.

It is a fantastic description and, on top of that, you have provided lots of extra, helpful details.

Adam - you are very welcome! I love these little pieces of paper, and enjoy the puzzles people present in here sometimes. I'll continue to keep my eyes open for more definite information, but for now I would assume it is a 1932 Hitler election stamp.

Cheers!!
