Hi, I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the C.H. Hassel expertizing mark on the back of my Dove of Basel stamp. I have found very little information about it online.

Hassel was a dealer in Basel in 1949.

Something weird about sheen of red in center. Never seen so glossy and such distinct dove

If it is genuine, you have a beautiful example…. But wait to hear from a Swiss expert?

Yes, I'd like to hear what people think about the stamp. My dad owned it for a long time and thought it was genuine, but to be honest I really don't know

Bump.

Unfortunately, this is one of many Basel Dove forgeries. The genuine (and a good number of the forgeries) has more embossed detail, more lines of feathers in the wings and tail, plus embossed features on the letter, an eye, and details on the body.
