Incoming telegraph from Algeria. I checked on the web and couldn't find the 6 penny marking and form.

To be very precise: not GB but UK, Dublin is in Ireland, not Great Britain.

Inland Rate was 20 words for 1/-
3d extra each 5 words

That makes it 1/6d (senders address not included) 27 words.

Can any members explain how a telegraph got from Algiers to Dublin in 1821

I'm not sure about the onward route, but I think that a telegraph cable from Algeria across the Med was constructed in the 1850s.

Algeria to Marseilles 1851

I just cannot get my head around a telegraph "hopping"
eg : Marseilles to Ireland, and thence whom paid what

Loved to learn.

I do believe I see 5/- but I may be wrong.

Leon Mathieu 1847-1910
Born in Trinidad on 1847 to Francois Mathieu. Leon Mathieu married Ellen Hamel-Smith and had 3 children. He passed away on 3 Oct 1910 in London, England.
