I am proposing an auto optimize option when uploading images. It can fix the size (like force to 800 or 1024 wide) and do whatever magic the optimizing tools does. I do not recall ever needing to tweak what the tool did. Of course, the manual would still be available

Much needed option. I am frustrated time and time again trying to upload a cover image.

I just open the scan in MS Office, crop and resize - you soon get an instinct for what size can be uploaded without difficulty.

Exactly! All my scans are made outside of SCF. Instinct and experience say covers at 100dpi, items the size of business cards at 200dpi, and stamps at 300dpi. Seldom do I ever have to adjust the image due to excessive file size, but when I do it's opened in a photo processing software for a quick fix. If I need the image for another use, I scan at a higher resolution at the same time.
