I like to share a photo of these Bhutan 3d stamps of JFK, Gandhi, Churchill and the moon rover. Well the moon rover is more of a hologram. I bought these when I was in the US Air Force sometime between August 1977 and August 1981. I have no idea on their worth and not sure if they were ever used. I thought I lost them and it took me two weeks to find them. Need to get better organized.

What strange "stamps" , never come across them before, excepting the "lenticular" moon rover. Thanks for sharing Ray.

Ironhelm,
How long have you owned them. And is there any way to get a price on them? Ray |

Usually you can find them on ebay for a good price. Lot 270454479916 has 6 of them, including the one with our own Spock! as a Buy it Now for $6.75. Just go to ebay by using the link on this forum and cut and paste the number in the search. |

BeeSee I've had them about 8 years. They were included in a lot I bought from ebay years ago. 2011 Scott Catalogue value is $21.05 both unused and used. There are 8 stamps in the set. |

In sports cards and comic books, the way those are pushed out are called embossed. I have no idea if in the stamp hobby if they use that term. |

Embossing has been used in stamp production since it's inception; such countries as Germany & Portugal to name a few. Though I am not a fan of Bhutan's stamps I do have quite a few of them gathered over the years - I see them more as Cinderella novelties then actual postage stamps. I am surprised as to the some of the high CVs some of these command though.
I am curious as to whether anyone here can show us any photos of Postally used Bhutan stamps on cover if any here has such.

I have a few actual Bhutanese covers from academics who have researched the country, as well as my own postcards sent back from Thimpu (Bhutan's capitol). Alas, catalogs do not distinguish between stamps that are routinely used and those meant for collectors that could legally be used, but probably won't be.
I bought just about everything that the Thimpu post office had in stock. I considered using one of the DVD stamps to send some heavy packages home, but realized that they would only vanish in India on the way out. |
