I have a 1 cent green Franklin with:

"akeland
Florida"

precancel

Is that a pretty common error or is there actually a town called akeland?

Lakeland, which has 9 types in the precancel catalog.
Yours is the "Double Line Electro", type 243.

John, So specifically it was pretty common for them to drop the "L" and that is one of the nine types "Yours is the "Double Line Electro", type 243."

Type 243 is one of the 9 types used in Lakeland.
This would have been plate of 100. I do not know the details for this plate, but many precancel devices/plates have typesetting, printing, and progressive damage varieties. Stay tuned and the precancel experts will weigh in before too long.
