Hi folks,
Thank you for accepting me.
Just by way of introduction, I'm in Cheshire, in the UK, and I've recently restarted stamp collecting, having lapsed since my teenage years.
I collect GB from 1840 - 2000; and King George VI Commonwealth.
Although I'm now retired I only have the philatelic knowledge and experience of a totally green teenager, so I'll be happy to accept any guidance from my betters.
Cheers folks.

Welcome.
Quite a few of us have resumed their youthful passion for stamps as retirement approached or became reality....

Welcome Cheesehound, from sunny North Wales! I too rekindled my interest in the hobby just prior to retirement. Now officially obsessed, according to my wife!

Hi DavidR, thanks for the welcome - nice to touch base with someone who's relatively local.

And, yes, my wife rolled her eyes a bit when my albums reappeared on the dining table.

I think she's caved in though, as she's letting me visit the Stafford Stamp Fair tomorrow without a chaperone!

Cheesehound,

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences.

My personal bias is a used stamp loses the story of its journey in the postal service when it is removed from the cover it transported to its destination. Collecting postal history adds a whole new aspect to your journey in our hobby.

Wishing you many enjoyable future days in our hobby. Russ

Cheeseboard, post some photos of what you pick up at Stafford. You would have had more fun than what I was doing, getting my covid booster. Exciting!
Regards
DavidR
