I came across this little gem today and can't seem to find it referenced anywhere...

Any ideas?

This is a Mexican Contribución Federal (federal tax) revenue stamp. CF444 in the Mexican rev catalogue (ed. Roberts), modest value. Mexican revenues can be very attractive, an interesting collection area.

Thanks Greg, Do you know the date issued and/or Forbin catalogue reference?

Hello Greg, duh, of course it is 1938 :-) My Forbin catalogue only goes to 1912-13.
Would you please provide the number of stamps in this series with their face values and catalogue references?
I would like to create a page for my album to mount them in.

Also, I have several revenue stamps overprinted "Od. Porfirio Díaz"
Any idea about the overprint? I know Porfirio Díaz was a Mexican General.

Certainly - here is the relevant section, 9 values in the set. If you plan to collect Mexican revenues more extensively, this is the key catalogue, it is available in PDF. Mexico's Revenue Stamps, editor Michael Roberts.

Re Porforio Diaz, there are couple towns in Mexico named after that general/president/dictator. So the overprint would refer to one of them I would think.

Thanks to everyone for your assistance.
I ended up buying a dvd copy of the Mexico revenue catalogue from Eric Jackson,
It was inexpensive...$18 I think.
