a friend of mine in Canada gave me a pair of books "The Worlds Greatest Stamp Collectors" its a fascinating fast read...some of the names Philippe Von Ferrary, Colonel Edward Green,John N. Luff,Alfred Casparry etc etc..these guys controlled the worlds most valuable stamps..how they did it ?? They were all incredibly wealthy..probably classified as billionaires today...money was no object at all..they sent their agents around the world..bring back the stamp no matter the cost..there were a lot fewer stamps back in the 19th and very early 20th century..but the dealers were no dummies,if you wanted the good stuff you paid..kind of hard to relate to these guys..but I enjoyed the stories !!
