These modern issues came in a large lot which was purchased for the pre-1940 stamps . Looked nice so printed up a page for them . |

Just as a wild guesstimate, how many post-1970 pages do you think you've printed out?

Snopes ---Maybe 100 to 200 pages ,these would be only for complete sets . |

Do you keep track of other stamps from the last 40-50 years, or do you only pay attention when you have a full set? Do the others just get shown the door? I can understand, either way.
A while back, I sent a 1990's butterfly set to a fellow forum member. There was some drama, because it was pointed out that the set catalogues three figures. Great. I didn't check the CV, and I'm happy it found a good home. |

CJD---- The one thing over the years that I had a problem understanding was all the many collectors who printed thousands of album pages and filled dozens of binders or purchased updated pages that ended up blank on their bookcases . That was one reason I made a cutoff date mine was 1970 . So when I print my own pages for any country ,I don't print after that date .
Many years ago a group of collectors and myself included were pushing for a Scott Catalog for 1941 to 1970. this would be in line with the Classic Catalog . I though it would happen as the catalogs just became too large and nobody like the cost and size of the number of volumes |

I only print Steiner pages as needed. I collect worldwide so many binders have more than one country. I do have to redistribute them once in a while.
I believe the upfront cost of stamp albums can be an inhibitor for a diversified worldwide collector.

angore, I do the same. And yes, some get bulky and need to be redistributed every so often. As a WW collector, I would not invest in pre-printed albums just to have lots of blank pages. It is also helpful for me as I leaf through those pages to see what I have and what I need. Plus, those who inherit my collection will be able to claim 'Stamps on every page!'. :) |

On the subject of blank album pages , I could remember the day when I was 10 or 11 years old . I went to Woolworth's in Chicago and they had those 10 cent packets of stamps. I had to decide which blank album page I wanted to fill . The choice was 4 French West Africa stamps or 3 stamps from Gambia each was in a H.E.Harris Honor -Bilt envelope .
I chose the 4 Fr. West Africa stamps because with my 10 cents I was getting more stamps and 4 stamps look better than 3 on a album page . |

Yvert's Semi-Moderne 1941-1960 catalogue is surprisingly useful. I might be tempted by such an offering from Scott. |

Scott's classic catalog is actually 1940 for most countries, but 1952 for Commonwealth in order to get to the end of King George III, at least until recently (they did it in 2023, but I'm not sure if they still are). They should expand that and make it "if the stamp producing entity ended between 1940 and 1952, or had a big change in government between 1940 and 1952, list it up to the change". That would get you World War II and occupation stamps, at least. |
