You also have to understand there are a lot of viewers who will be reserved to post anything but they always want to see what others like you are doing . Then others like beginner collectors or returning to stamp collecting who are not set in their way they collect and are looking for ideas .

There is always that small group who want to tell you how to collect {their way is always the right way } and what to collect .

All my life people told me that WW collecting was too big of a project . I wanted just a decent size collection . Then as I continue going down the path as a worldwide collector people started to take a interest . I was determined to see how far I could go .

My point is start to show what your doing and the positive respond will far out weight the negative .

I too will fuse a collector's well-presented pages in my collection. I've trimmed down many a Scott Specialty page too and punch to fit into the Scott Internationals. I especially use whatever comes by for post 1999 items. I'm really not going to spring for 21st century Scott Internationals. I take whatever pages (and albums) they are on from Stiener to Palo and make it work. I recently visited with one collector who's up to 223,000 different in Scott Internationals. He said he was going to stop counting at 175K but kept going.

As a new collector it's good to know it's not frowned on to use other people's pages. It does seem a shame to undo anothers great work.

The hardest thing to do in a WW collection is to have consistency across your albums. I generally only keep research pieces.

A few years ago one of the lot describers at Kelleher Stamp Auctions address this subject during a write up about a W.W. collection he was writing up for their catalog . He stated most of the huge W.W. collection had four or five country sections had the place where the original collector put their effort and money . Then the rest of the collection was spotty or just not filled up like the 4 or 5 countries .

This is where my investments were during my high school years . I had my paper route so I was loaded with money .I could go to Woolworths and spend $1.00 a week and buy 3 or 4 country HONOR-BILT PACKETS .

I remember these packets very well. I think Mccrory's, which was less than a 10 minute walk for me growing up, carried them.

What I been working on this month .

valuewise what is better in a WW collection. Main countries or colonies -What do you do? Colonies are niche but harder to fill. Large countries have a huge following for single country collectors. Do you all focus on sections of the world or do you collect all WW equally.

There is a huge St and M auction coming up kheller I think.

Greendragon ---- To answer your question , "what is better in a WW collection " the answer is every collector will answer that differently ,no one answer is correct . Over time my interest has moved around like most stamp collectors .

Having grow up in Chicago with its large European immigrants and my parents being Eastern European ,it is correct to say that was my main stamp interest for most of my life was Europe .To answer your second question ,I do now collect the world equally {which is not the case with most WW collectors }.


I do have the Kelleher Catalog for the SPM lots sitting here next to my computer . Lots of expensive stamps in this auction .

SHERMAE -- Interesting that they were less than 10 minutes away ,for me it was about 4 mile walk to downtown Providence R.I. to the Woolworth's store to buy those H.E.Harris Honor-Bilt packets . I would look for the ten cent packs because I could buy more of them than the expensive 25 cents packets .

Here is where I started spending 10 or 25 cents to put stamps on every page of my stamp album . Been doing the same thing for 65 years . Now it is about buying country collections not pages .
