Pushing 330,000 All Different Worldwide Stamps In One Collection .

The 1946 Sanabria catalogue says that there were 50 sets of imperfs. Is this from one of those? I cannot say. I'd first suspect that it was trimmed, and/or I would check postal stationery examples to see if there is one that matches, but I wouldn't rule out a legitimate imperf without doing more research.

Funny that the listing is in the Yvert French Colonies catalogue, but not in the Classiques.

Floortrader, I was thinking that they might have been proofs, but the impression isn't proof-like. Could very well be printers waste.

It's always fun to see a wall 'o albums! Great to compare the three. There will always be those stamps you run into that one will need some "alternative storage" from Sand Dunes to souvenir sheets.

Looking at floortraders pictures. 1st thing you notice that even with the most advanced collections that the world has ever seen, there is still a mix of albums. 2nd thing you notice is that Scott dominates.3rd thing you notice is that it takes about 4 bookshelves. 4th thing Scott specialty and not Big Blue are the winners.

I think you'll find that neither Ferrary nor George V used Scott binders.

I have slowly purged many of my Scott products off my shelves over the years. I found having others telling me 'what' and 'how' collect was costly and inane.

From my understanding, Yvert's Classique and Semi-Moderne catalogues simply bring together all the listings from their regional catalogues for those time periods, but does not include the specialized material included in French Colonies.

So in that sense Yvert's Classique is not like Scott's Classic Specialized.

It's not the size of the bookshelf but how you use it.

stampdragons is a big album collector. Used of course. I also have Steiner pages printed on not cheap paper. Must be acid free and now lignin free.
Stamps need to be displayed. Once you go from stockbooks to albums there is no going back. So I have been shedding stocksbooks for albums.

See I am the complete opposite, because I want to have all variants listed in non-Scott catalogues be displayed with the base stamps, so I switched to Vario Stockpages and Binders to have maximum flexibility in what and how I collect.

Plus I save on the cost of album page paper and mounts, and the hassle of having to reprint album pages if I missed a variant I want to include or there are spelling errors. Just rearrange the stamps on the Vario pages to fit the missing variant.

I also love seeing pictures like these! My collection probably fills 3-4 of the cabinet sections shown so those collections are very, very impressive.

Very true! Ferrary's emulated the type of leger one would find in the 19th century. Long and skinny. I'm a little foggy on the details, but I think he dedicated one type of stamp per page and would have about a dozen copies of it. His stamp secretary undoubtedly played a hand in it. I'm guessing that King George had a little help from the royal bindery folks.
