Pushing 330,000 All Different Worldwide Stamps In One Collection .

Think most of us grew up in the same way of our first albums were from H.E.Harris , my first three worldwide album were H.E. Harris ,starting with a .25 cent album and advancing thru their different albums until I advanced up to their top of the line STANDARD three volume set . You can see my set expanded to seven volumes in the photo above . Never had the desire to take it apart or transfer the stamps .

So it was a natural move to step up to the Scott International series , those green Scott Speciality series were too expensive to buy ,so International's were easy to expand and lots of used sets are alway aviable .

That falls in line with the comment here where a poster asked , why don't I have my own website for my collection ?

Part of the answer is very few people would ever see it ! Big difference than having it here on the STAMP COMMUNITY BOARD ,here you can see how many clicks it gets ,plus the added input from other collectors .

On this same subject of reader viewing , two weeks ago I was up in Chicago for Thanksgiving and decided to visit CHICAGOPEX , I went on Saturday, as always I go to view the exhibitions and read the research . It was shocking to be spending Saturday afternoon in the exhibition area and ONLY 5 PEOPLE came into the two seperate viewing rooms . Great work done by the owners showing their work thru their research and material they put together . But GOD !!! only 5 viewers . ------ That's why my collection will stay here where clicks/ views to STAMP COMMUNITY are over a 1,000 a day .

DJCMHOH - What I do when I get a new variety is that I will either mount it next to the major variety or I will insert a blank page.

I started my own website 10 years ago and it has been seen by over 11 million different users since then. And this was while was fighting cancer, kidney failure, dialysis and 52 surgeries. Surely a guy like you, who can fight guys 40 years younger than yourself, could do the same!

I think that many people who go to weekend shows (including myself ) spend their time Saturday at the bourse to get first crack at the dealer's latest offerings. Then Sunday visit the exhibits if there is still time. But you're right, even on Sunday it is not very crowded. I wonder if it is busiest on Friday or during the judging, at least you'd have all the other exhibitors there looking around at the other exhibits.

Curious - how do you keep track of catalog numbers, etc. when using vario? I struggle a bit in trying to figure this out. I've used vario to keep track of plated stamps, but then even after skipping a row or 2 , have to insert whole blank pages…. I have Steiner too and now a mish of blank specialty paper, printer paper, etc…. I'd like to get better organized.

Tks for any thoughts.

Had no idea these templates existed on StampSmarter. Given that I only collect in Vario pages, these will definitely receive experimentation!

Douglas Myall developed Deegam profiles you can insert in your album. The idea is very similar to that shown by Don and adds a bit more flexibility.

From my Forgery collection .

This is the type of material and write up I would hope to see when Sergio Sismondo's material came up for auction , but I was disappointed to see only a bunch of red boxes come up for auction with thousands of glassines {they called it his inventory } . Gave me no idea what your getting are they all forgeries or a mix with regular stamps ,was any write ups or research included ,just too many questions to even bid on it .

Is a standard color laser used to create the white characters? Or does the printer create the black background on white paper?

I took inspiration from old Stanley Gibbons albums that had details of the stamps on the left page and then the page for the stamps on the right side page of an opened album.

I create "album key" pages that I put in between the vario pages to show what goes where, and on those pages I include catalogue numbers etc.



I like designing album pages (I use AlbumEasy) but like the flexibility that Vario brings. So in the above example not only do I have spaces for the basic stamps but also for varieties listed in the Brusden-White Specialized Catalogue for Australia. And if I need to add a new variety, all I have to do is remove the album page key, redesign it to fit in the new variety, and print it out and put it back in the page protector. Since it is in the page protector I can use regular 8.5x11 copy paper.
