Landoquakes Yes the 3 Minkuses on the left middle are the 2 volume Amos reprint. They turned into 3 volumes after I put in glassine interleaves. The 2 on the right are feeder albums. I started my collection in them and really enjoyed them for some time but I did not like how busy and cramped the early pages in each country looked and frankly they were "too hot" for me. WIth a busy job and a young family I was finding it very hard to get time to get into watermarks and perforations. I ploughed on for some time but I stopped after filling Argentina. I might still go back to them one day when I have more time. I am now collecting " to the album" in my big blue. It is very satisfying to quickly fill in a few spaces late at night without breaking out the perforation gauges and the watermark fluid. |

Greendragon ---- Those pages on the market place will have to wait . The whole stamp community is changing during the past three years . Some positive changes but a lot of big negative influences too.

Aragorn ,nice Ukraine .
There is a important subject here that I never seen in the Philatelic Press and never seen this discussed in 25 years of stamp chat rooms .
The subject is important to anybody who mounts stamps in their collection .
The subject is "which stamps are the hard to get stamps " I am not talking about the expensive stamps , but those pesky cheap stamps that get diffcult to find -----But how does a collector determine which one's .
For example ,today ARAGORN shows Ukraine with two missing stamps ,no big deal -right ! But then I go to my pre-1940 Album and what I see is a full page with two missing stamps in the same spot . With this discovery ,now I know to pay a little extra if I want to fill those two holes. The thought is if he and I are missing the same stamps then I could add it to my list of try to pick it up if the price is right .
So how else do you decide which stamps need to be on your radar unless you see other albums missing the same ones. Those two are key to the whole page if your collecting with a Scott Intl album . . |
