Some previous owner appears to have thought so. I cannot find any info. It's likely black or even blue as it is green to my eyes.

Yellow + blue make green, so the cancel gives a false combined color on the yellow envelope.

I would look at the cancel where it strikes on the white area of the stamp and judge there. This sample cropped from your image is too grainy, but you might try making a hi-res scan without any of the envelope present, such as this:

I suspect that it might be ultramarine.

In the blowup image in the OP, it's a blue cancel. Some people can pick up a bit of green in it, but that's part of the (probably) indigo colorant, but overall at the end of the day, it is blue.

Not at all ultramarine. Joking?

Not at all. On my screen it looked even lighter then the stamp, so I thought ultramarine a real possibility. But PC screens are very bad for shades.
