The main thing is that exercise lowers blood glucose levels and boosts your body's sensitivity to insulin, countering insulin resistance. Plus, if you exercise vigorously enough you can continue to burn calories for hours after the actual exercise. If you can swing it, resistance/weight training is a huge positive because we know that lean tissue (muscle) instead of fat is an enormously good thing. In the end though just staying active is important. Use it or lose it, your mobility that is.

The teaspoon of sugar in one stamp's worth of adhesive does seem preposterous. Kind of like some popular fruit/vegetable capsules that claim to contain ten servings of dehydrated fruits/veggies. A big fat five Pinocchio's to that claim. Besides which dehydrated fruits and veggies contain no hydration benefits nor the same fiber/digestive properties.

1000 hinge licks = 1 JellyBelly bean.
Type 2 diabetes (or the lifestyle disease)
Have been type2 for many years.
Lost 25 lbs this last year. Feel better than I have in a long time. Retired
I think stress is a large factor to A1C spikes. Was for me while working.
Stamp collecting (for me) is a great stress reducer. Except for ebay closings

I would be more in fear of a paper cut on the tongue no healing properly due to diabetes healing delays. If you think that suggestion is outrageous, then you are aware of my opinion of the OP question due to its basic lack of understanding.

A Calorie is one Calorie of potential energy. 1000 Calories is one Kcal. One Kcal has the layman's term 'calorie' when discussing food consumption by humans. Thus when science is used to measure the energy output of an item when converted to energy, and it is only 1/1000th of a dieticians use of the word calorie which is correctly called a Kcal.

So, lick away.

I've been a diabetic for many years and have never had a problem licking mounts. You'd have to lick a ridiculous amount of them to get any kind of negative reaction, I'd assume.

Diabetes is such a horrible disease. My wife ended up almost losing her eyesight, had gastroparesis and neuropathy and almost died from complications multiple times. The pancreas transplant saved her life. Literally within one day of the transplant she no longer required administered insulin and that has lasted 13 years. The gastroparesis still exists to a lesser degree, but the neuropathy is gone and with surgery she regained her vison. Initially they told her that she would require another pancreas in about 6 years or so. Miracles do exist. Hinge lick at will!

58 yo type 1 diabetic here...managing it can be a real pain in the rear. I'm generally hyperglycemic and inject 2 different types of insulin from 2-7 times per day. Through diet, exercise, and plenty of insulin, I have it reasonably under control. The self-adhesive stickers posing as stamps has reduced the need to lick anything philatelic. Having said that, licking stamps and/or hinges are the least of my worries when it comes to the disease.
