Thank you 51 Studebaker. All the sites I visited all have the horn running the length of the stamp not horizontal. The only way I can match it up is to turn it 90 degrees. is this common? I know they did print sheets with 2 water line directions on the same sheet but not side ways. I've only researched for a couple weeks so I'm no expert by any means.

I'm sorry I should have said turn it 90 degrees and then invert it. Then that will match up to the watermark.

This looks like DDR & posthorn, but not sideways. It looks inverted as it is

The watermarks are normally oriented as shown in Don's link above, but Michel does list varieties. Below are the watermarks:

Thank you kind sir. My catalog dose not arrive hopefully by the end of the week. I am wondering why water mark X1 and X11 are laying on there side? Is it just to show that the water mark runs across horizontally instead of Y1 parallel? Looking forward to all the fun.

Cownick - The watermark illustrations are not meant to match an actual stamp but rather they show the dimensional differences of the watermark components themselves and the general orientation of vertical and horizontal. They are "snippets" of a sheet of watermarked paper for this issue.
