Japan. Classics. Found In The Bottom Of An Auction Box.

Hi guys
I just had to share this with you all.
I am finally clearing out a space and the last box which I've had for a year plus produced these! pictures below.
they have had multiple owners who have calculated the Cat Values at various times. The last pic is the back of one piece with values in Pounds Shillings and Pence which ceased to be used in the UK in about 1970. So no idea how long they have been like this.
A quick look at "stampworld.com" suggests (if they are genuine) they could be worth a fair bit.
I don't collect Japan so my question is.....
Do I list on ebay or do I contact a reliable auction house?????

They look more like ebay material to my uneducated eye - you might get some views here on their authenticity. Good luck!

If you only looked at the stampworld "catalog" value, you're being misled. For example, Japan #2 is listed at $190 used, but there are sale prices anywhere from 95 to 200 Euro (click the green Buy button); #14 is listed at $544, but being sold retail at 120 or 199 Euro.
Definitely eBay territory, IMO.

Early Japan are among the most forged stamps in the world.

Why not offer them for direct sale to a specialist dealer? Michael Rogers was the name that sprung to mind.

Would anyone suggest taking them off those horrible pages and cleaning up a-bit. Give a better view of any hidden faults. Maybe putting on a vario with catalog numbers?

Have spent hours on the ISJP website. It says 80% of early Japan are not originals and has a very good set of pages which explains the goings on.
It seems "every day is a school day". Virtually all of them are missing the secret marks or have an extra syllabic, so not genuine...
Ebay material it is, with a Caveat Emptor in the description.
