As essay_proof says: reconstruction. A multiple that has come apart or multiple parts that have been reconstructed to make a multiple are two things.

Stallzer also identifies it as

Quote:
reconstructed block of 9 - R98a (3 strips of 3)

The strip were used separately. The parts were rejoined to "reconstruct" the block. The authograph ended on a document, not on the adjoining strip.

The interpretation of, distinction between, and use of various terms is fascinating to me.

In my personal opinion, I see no distinction in market value or desirability between rejoined and reconstructed. I value them the same.

If I had to visualize a "desirability scale" it would go something like this:

1. Fully intact multiple
2.
3. Reinforced multiple (reinforcement not readily apparent or visible)
4. Reinforced multiple (reinforcement is glaringly obvious from the front)
5.
6.
7.
8.
9. Rejoined/reconstructed multiple
10. Fully separated singles or multiples comprising #9

Again, this is subjective: *MY* comparative valuation. Others will differ.

If that's the case for reconstruct, then I would have them at 50.
Doesn't even make sense to me.
Join any old load of cobblers to make a block.

Notwithstanding those who "plate"

It all depends on how it's marketed IMO. If it's valued/sold as "3 strips of 3", that's fine, but if the hyperbole is in any way referencing a block of 9, then GTFO.

My apologies
The penny just dropped, gee how embarrassing!
I see the block is imperforate, and cut with scissors
Couldn't see the forest for the trees.

Now that reconstruct, I would be happy with.

You could not entertain the description "reconstructed block of 9" ?

Absolutely... as long as nothing is referenced with respect to the value of a block of 9 (vs 3x strips of 3) or where a block of 9 resides in the list of N largest multiples of that stamp. However, most sellers and auction houses can't help themselves...

The link provided by stallzer suggests the three strips either came from the same document or a series of documents and were rejoined into their original positions with hinges.

I suppose if I would find adjoining Penny Blacks that can be shown to have come from the same sheet, I would like to display them together. Calling them a 'multiple' would be another thing.

I am not so sure I would feel the same if they would be 'Wildings.'

Right, thanks, I think I have it understood now.
and, I agree, makes sense.
