Could someone please share his opinion on this old postcard,from China . Very large part of the stamp at left is missing . Wath could be the reason ?

It looks like part of the whole left-hand side of the postcard has been cut off, taking the part stamp with it.

Vandalism?

The oval cancel reads: Baoding (a city in Hebei province) post office.
