Lots of "air-mail" motifs stuck on by hand. Why do you think it visited the Rio Grande? |

If you look, you'll see that the sender has stuck on various buts and pieces of different origin - he obviously had fun with this. |

Geoff My view Everything else on the cover looks printed except for the 2 stamps applied. I'm probably wrong Would appreciate someone - displaying the same cover. With different stamps One thing I can assure you of - the cover arrived |

I cannot imagine this ever taking the 'Mexico' route. It would be an enormous detour. It would have been flown via Singapore and Indonesia. |

My suggestion. All the motifs, (possibly) part of a stationery "kit" that was popular in the 1950's when letter writing was so popular. The hint is the CROXLEY Air Mail indicia, with "croxley" on it These are a famous stationery brand since 1893 I too had a writing kit, but not so extravagant, most hotels had stationery paper on the bedrooms side drawers. https://www.croxley.co.za/ |

Is it really an FDC or was that too added by the sender? Shouldn't there be drawings on the envelope that are relevant to the stamp subject? Is there anyone here that has other FDCs from Pakistan, preferably unused, for comparison? |

It's an FDC if posted on the first day of issue. Any designs on the cover are irrelevant. This is much more interesting than the usual drab company illustration. |

The cancellation of the stamps on the back appears to be for 14? AUG 55. These stamps had been issued before 1955. The stamp on the front is one, I think, was issued 14 August 1955. It, however, does not look like it has been cancelled. There is no way to ascertain whether it was affixed when the item was mailed or added at a later date.
It may be a first day cover but lacks the one thing that you would want: an actual cancellation of the issued stamp on its issue date. So, is it a first day cover? |
