After much research and having great insight on want's happening

I have come to the conclusion that ebay is giving the U.S. POST OFFICE names of those new to ebay , buyers who have less than 20 feedbacks ,their names and dates I mail out their small orders . Mind you these are ONLY buyers who buy $12.00 and less items . Because sales of over that amount are tracked . Never lost a tracked package .

These customers are losing their orders to Postal crooks . It is real sad because these honest and trustworthy customers live in apartments or in homes valued under $200,000 according to Zillow online home values .

Notice these low life postal workers are only stealing from the poor ,I never lost a order to someone in a $300,000 home .......I just can't figure this out .

I talked with ebay and they don't care ,with 7,000+ plus sales ,they think I am the problem not them .

Though it's not perfect, I use the ebay standard envelope for small orders. It has does have tracking for these small amounts. However, the tracking is not always updated on ebay so it's not 100% foolproof. But it's at least something.

I struggled to not remove the original post, it is full of unsubstantiated accusations. But for now I'll assume that readers understand this.

I know you're joking, but...

Within the last month, I lost another $1,500+ stamp to the USPS ISC New York. That puts my losses at over $10,000 in the last decade, all to the ISC New York. All sent registered.

I'm running out of German sellers that will ship to the US because they end up eating the losses, and this may cost me my best source for German Colonies materials.

One of these days, the USPS needs to figure this out. Either they're grossly incompetent, or they employ a crapload of thieves.

I had a more confounding theft which I believe occurred at the local post office. I mailed a payment for stamps that used a credit card for the payment (safe as it offers protection, right), With in an hour that credit card was compromised. This transaction was done at the counter inside the local branch. The mail piece was first class mail. How sad.

They're not getting lost in customs, unless customs is faking the tracking entries.

"they end up eating the losses " at those levels they should be buying insurance ? In my situation it is a $6.00 sale with $1.00 postage ,no room for the expense of tracking .

All I can do is eat the one or two claims a month ,instead of shipping 30 or 40 monthly sales for a extra $2.00 per mailing . In business it is slippage for me .I know ebay looked at this and it would be nice to know they are closing accounts and restricting people if they are having 2 or 3 claims in the first 25 transactions .

PostMaster,
I see.
I am not a strong defender of USPS and I can count on one hand the number of international shipments I make per year on the other hand count the number of incoming international shipments I receive.

I have little doubt that the USPS has thieves among its ranks, probably a bit less than any other random group of employees (assuming that since it is a fairly decent job with benefits). The USPS processes 23.8 million packages per day. Lots of opportunity for unethical people (at virtually every location including shipping docks, truck terminals, airport terminals, railway cars, and the estimated 260 million packages stolen by porch pirates in the US last year) for a thief to snag a parcel.

the problem with ebay tracking is that it is not linked to the USPS system. I have had a lot of people wondering why ebay says their letter was delivered and they do not have it. All ebay standard letter tracking does is show when the item arrives are the clients post office. They will normally get it in a few days . I did have one that floated for three months and finally I refunded as ebay tracking said it was still in route. ebay needs to get their system linked to the USPS system. Mike

Funny enough, I've never had them permanently lose a parcel. 100% of my losses have been registered letters. I guess thieves steal registered letters thinking they contain money or negotiable instruments. I'd prefer to have everything sent FedEx or in plain, unregistered letters, since a registered label is the equivalent of a "steal me" sign at this point, but ebay doesn't like either of those options.

I recently posted in another thread regarding a substantial check that went missing on its way from NY to MA. The sender put a stop payment on it and cut another check which went FedEx and arrived in two days. I have little faith in the USPS.

It is public information that there are approximately 1300 postal inspectors. Let that sink in. There are over 630,000 USPS employees working at 34,000 locations. That number does not include contractors.

There are countless stories of USPS employee theft. Here is a recent one where the carrier stole checks and sold them on the dark web.

The worst thing about it isn't the money -- it's that some of these items are literally irreplaceable.

I hear you PostmasterGS. Most stamps can be bought by anyone with deep enough pockets.

Postal history on the other hand.......

PostmasterGS - Given the unique nature of each piece that has been lost where do you think they are ultimately ending up? They must be tricky to sell.
