First time prospective buyer on Hipstamp and was wondering if their "cashback" via Paypal is legitimate? Do I need a selling account for them to know my Paypal address or will they know it through my first purchase? Would be disappointed if I made my first purchase and didn't receive "cashback."

Hipstamp has had numerous various rebate offers before as well as x% off sales, and they still continue to do so. They would have been forced by enraged customers to shut down long ago if such offers were fake. I've bought many temporarily discounted/sale items with no problems. Sellers also can have "make an offer" on certain stamps as well, just like ebay. You are aware there is a minimum purchase amount for the rebate? There may be other conditions. One assumes you would pay by PayPal so they would know where to send the rebate, otherwise they'd have to ask you where to send the rebate. So you probably need a PayPal account (why not?) and you don't have to be seller. You can ask them if they'll rebate some other way, but it might be PayPal being partly involved in the rebate. |

As folks note, the cashback deals are legit. They pick up your paypal handle from your purchases. They used to do the cashback manually right after your purchase, but now they batch them monthly, but they still come through.

Why isn't the cash back going to all customers? I did not receive any this time. |

It sounds like an offer to new users or a specific group of new users only. You've never heard of such a thing? |

Torin,
I've used these promotions several times as a buyer; they are legit. Usually takes a couple days, but never had any issues. Would gladly spend thousands more there if the right Ecuadorian stamps would ever show up!
I do think the offers usually do not include shipping as part of a qualified purchase; might want to read the fine print though.

Not to beat a dead horse, BUT - Is that 15% cash back on a $75 purchase going to be such a great deal when measured by the volume of unsolicited texts and emails you will receive from HipStamp from that point going forward? John |

Have not found Hipstamp in and of itself all that bad in regards to spam; it is the annoying individual sellers that spam you with unsolicited emails after a purchase that are the annoyance. |

They are all "@hipstamp.com" emails. None of them are from individual sellers' domains. HipStamp IS the problem. Trust me. I have gone round and round and round with Hip on this very topic. They tell me that they will stop the emails from all of the sellers, and it stops for a day and starts right back up. Hip makes $$$$ from this activity. It is naive to think that Hip is not the problem. Sorry. |

Did not know that Hipstamp was the one generating those; always chalked it up to individual sellers/dealers that ostensibly got my email address through a sale. They've always an been email about "see abc dealers new inventory" or some other promotion.
One would think that after some 5,500 purchases I might know how to find their site again...?
But as you say, if money is involved, the spam will never ever go away. |
