I think fewer people now are using the ebay Feedback system.

I think that having a low, or no, revised Feedbacks does not mean that much. For example, ebay removes negative feedbacks when they are over one year uses positive feedbacks in the score forever. Is showing buyers a negative feedback important on day 364 but magically on day 366 it is no longer important? If negative feedbacks 'go away' after 365 days why do not positive feedbacks do the same? (Note that ebay drops the negative feedbacks after a year by no longer using them to calculate the account feedback score. If you manually dig back into the old feedback messages you can find them but how many people bother to do this? I assume that the overwhelming majority of people only consider the current ebay feedback score when deciding to make a purchase.) But to your question about % feedback ratios, are you talking about the manipulated % ratio or going back and manually calculating the real feedback ratio yourself? (this is a rhetorical question from me)

There are numerous other reasons that the ebay feedback system is badly flawed but they have been covered many times. I think that ultimately there are really great ebay sellers who have less than great feedback scores and there are some awful sellers who have 100% positive feedback scores. So its value is not clear to me and I try to spend as little amount of time on it as I can.

I do think that good communications, including providing feedback on transactions, is important in a business relationship. It takes only a minute or two to send a message to a buyer or seller offering useful feedback and this demonstrates a desire to have an on-going business relationship.

Not sure if it is I, but the latest ebay pictures are small and greyish, without means on some, to see up close.

I noticed the same thing over the weekend.

Thought it was just my computer being stubborn.

Ridiculous that when you click on a picture it provides a SMALLER version.

Makes me wonder if supervisors/managers are paying attention at all over there.

If they were, we wouldn't have options to show "green" or "blue" stamps and it wouldn't default to "Best Match" for searches when they clearly haven't worked (ever) for 25 years....

I am just speculating, but it may be that ebay is trying to prevent the stealing/borrowing of the higher resolution images.

Can someone link to an example of the small gray photos? I haven't noticed that in my eBay-ing.

Agree Don, that was my immediate thought, then moved to perhaps saving server space ?

Earlier on, did not ebay watermark their images?

Postmaster: will give it a shot, give me a few minutes

Rod,

There's definitely something a little wonky going on with their code.

Take that 4-image listing. The default image size on the main listing is limited by the box size, so those display ~500 x 368.

If you click on each image to get the enlarged version, images 2-4 will open much larger (~1344 x 990 on my setup), and if you right click to open those images in a new tab, you can get full size versions (~1527 x 1125).

But image 1 will always open at ~500 x 368. You can't get an enlarged version. But there clearly is one, because the zoom shows a larger version. And the zoomed version isn't artificially enlarged algorithmically, it's an actual large version.

Also, it appears as if it's always the first image. I clicked around about half a dozen listings with multiple photos, and the behavior is consistent -- photo 1 is small, remainder are large. Looks like they have an error in the code that loads the images into the lightbox when you click to enlarge.

There is a way to get to the large version of Photo 1.

1. Left click to enlarge Photo 1. This will open the lightbox and display Photo 1 at 500 pixels wide.
2. Right click on the image and select open in new tab. This will open the same image (500 pixels wide) in a new tab. The URL in the browser address bar will end in "s-l500.jpg".
3. Manually changed the filename at the end of the URL to "s-l1600.jpg" (replace the 500 with 1600). Enjoy a larger image.

I am sure this is helpful, esp those searching for Aust KGV varieties,
and others wanting clear examples of perfs / prints etc.

Prior to that, I felt using just the magnifier was just a huge waste of time
I just could not endure it.

It's been fixed!! Hooray!

It took a lot of complaining on their site to even get them to understand what was going on.
