I imagine that the Dutch regulatory rules are similar to those in the UK, where television news must be presented "with due impartiality", which explains why the Dirty Digger has never introduced Fox News here.

It is. The news is broadcast by a broadcaster that has no members. We had what we called pillars: the broadcaster, religion, political party, and family newspaper were often matched. So, a Catholic family would read a Catholic newspaper, be a member of the Catholic broadcaster (KRO), go to a Catholic church and vote for a Catholic party. Currently, those pillars have mostly disappeared. Still, there are some remnants of these pillars.

The broadcasting associations had their own 'news shows': a bit like 'Panorama' rather than the 'BBC News.'

I don't believe there are any truly objective media left. They have all realized the money to be made or power to be kept by pandering to their "people".

Have they ever existed? How would the most impartial newspaper have approached the suggestion of a gay-pride parade, a UK Prime Minister of non-European descend or atheism 100 years ago? How would an impartial Roman TV news bulletin during the reign of Emperor Augustus have approached the concept of Christianity?

Uhoh, we are trending dangerously close to politics now ;-) I had a feeling that might happen!

Notice that I refrained from further commentary when we went down the road towards Roman television. We all know that the Romans did not have television. They relied on Tik-Tok.

I hear the Martians tried solar powered TVs but they couldn't get through a 2-hr movie...
