This style Japanese Occupation overprint was used other Malayan states, but – as far as I can tell – not on Kedah stamps. Are they fakes?

If so, and I can't see otherwise and it's obviously my mistake, but, any recourse on ebay? Thanks,

Can I presume that the part of the story you didn't tell us, was that you bought these from an ebay seller who claimed them to be genuine, and you're now not sure they are?
Not much you can do: you would have to get the stamps expertised at your expense, and then file a claim. Don't expect to recoup the costs of the expertising, of course. And then read the listing carefully: did the seller actually claim them to be genuine, or did you assume that? You're probably just going to have to chalk it up as a learning experience.

I have a lot of auction catalogs of Roelf Boekema, a Dutch auctioneer specializing in Japanese Occupation of South-East Asia. The stamps of Kedah appear to have been overprinted with the above , but I can find no record of the 2 and 4 cent being overprinted.

Michel holds that the 2c and 4c are only found with a red overprint.

OK, that is very possible. My info is mostly from the 1980's.
Thank you Classic

A question to the OP: Were you able to conclude anything about these stamps?

I am curious because of the two threads within, one being the ebay recourse and the other being identity and whether fake overprint.

Thanks,

Dave
