I hope someone could help me or explain to me how to solve this dilemma.

I received a request from a Canadian buyer on ebay with 1700+ feedbacks to combine 3 of my lots and mail in an envelope to Canada. We agreed on a price of $14 and free shipping (I would pay the $1.45 shipping for a one ounce envelope.
He claims the when he tries to buy it, it says there is $10.45 shipping charge.
My listing definitely says free shipping.
I called ebay US. They insisted that my listing says free shipping.
He claims to have called ebay Canada and they can not explain it.

I then sent him an offer. He accepted it. I tried to send an invoice but it says :"Invoices can't be sent for International Shipping Orders"

I wasn't planning on using ebay International Shipping. I was just going to ship it myself

Thanks

I have never sold anything to Canada. I have bought a lot of stamps out of Canada. I ran into a problem like this when I tryed to buy stamps from a seller from England. They had to cancel the order then place the stamps on a buy it now. Then they sent me a message that it was up for me to buy it now. I then went and bought the stamp and was able to pay for the lot with out any difficulty. I was able to pay in British pounds and received my stamps in about two weeks.

Sorry to have bothered but I wonder if I solved my problem.

I went into my ebay account 'shipping preferences'
It says ' ebay international shipping - new
It automatically opted me in.
I opted out but it says can take 24 hours to process, so I'll give it a day and try to send the invoice with free shipping again.

Just curious if anyone else has faced this issue. I haven't shipped to Canada or any other country in at least 3 years.
Thanks

I opted out of the egregious Global Shipping Programme. Surprise, surprise, when someone in Texas wanted to buy from me, but referred to the outrageous postage price, I found that ebay had opted me back in. Worth examining those boxes!

Yeah this Global Shipping Programme is a deal breaker for people like me that usually buy material from the US.
Shipping costs $30+ on a $2-5 item - obviously that is not going to go well.
Fortunately many US sellers have found a way to get rid of that ripoff. So if you are a seller, make sure this option is killed off - always.

Well, ebay is ebay, for worse or for...Never mind.
One not-so-elegant solution is to present the item as "free shipment" and in your seller notes declare that the shipment fee is included in the stamp/stamps price due to technical difficulties.

On a different note, I did see several offers entitled "free shipment", with shipment fee, and when I asked the dealer he replied that he meant free only in domestic mailing.
I guess the dealer was too busy helping old ladies cross the road and rescuing cats from treetops, so he didn't have time to add "domestic" to the "free shipping" title.

Even though I too had opted out, after reading what Geoff experienced, I just checked and the bleeps had opted me back in again, so I just opted back out again. I wonder how many sales lost when they had me in?

Yes, it was a bit of a routine. I opted out, but couldn't adjust the existing ebay postage price. I had to cancel the sale, re-list, get him to bid again, then stop the auction. All went OK after that!

Sounds like you were automatically signed up for the ebay Global Shipping program like I was several weeks ago. By the time I realized and opted out of it any international orders I had were stuck in the Global shipping program and I could not invoice my buyers the correct amount of shipping I had quoted. I am still working to salvage 2 sales because of the mess ebay put me into with out my consent. Thanks ebay - got any other bright ideas

Back in early May I got this message from ebay, I immediately went into the setting and opted out.

I sell a variety of stuff on ebay not all philatelic. For the larger, bulkier items I left international shipping in place. For items like books and magazines it's usually cheaper than USPS prices. For stamps, postcards, and covers, I specified a flat rate and quoted a price to cover my costs. Haven't had a problem there yet(knock on wood).
