I know there are many (way too many) sketchy listings on ebay, and for whatever reason sellers think they will sell. I know this will never stop, but at least I can have some fun with it. I guess the only rule is buyer beware. Here are some of my recent favorites: (Will not include the 1¢ green stamp for $98,000 ones! ) pat PM on top of another! Used 2x4 pasted on top of an unmailed envelope.

WOW, just WOW, what people price things at! On the one hand, these are entertaining. On the other hand, I hope nobody buys them at these prices... |

Jujustamps is the forum ID of jujusales. We are forever indebted to juju for the entertainment provided by all of those 25 cent stamps priced in the five-figure range. Priceless. |

I got a number of generous offers from our friend. This one of the best which I was unable to accept: |

Most offers were more than the buy it now price. Go figure. For the record I made no offers or communicated with them.

There always are the optimists. This one is asking the equivalent of € 40 for the 6 ct. stamp from the 1936 Social Welfare and Cultural fund-raising set (Zomerpostzegels). The top right corner is missing. At bottom left, there is a folded perforation tip. There is curling, probably caused by the hinge. The stamp is identifies as hinged unused. The seller, EUGPO_86 does accept offers. I would suggest offering € 0.01 for this stamp, as that is what it is worth. Searching for 'Nederland 1936' in the stamps section of ebay.nl, the listing directly above it is for the complete set by postzegel_roltandingshop. Other listings are at comparable prices. The set includes a 12 ct. stamp. The catalogue value tends to be in that highest value stamp. The set in never hinged mint condition and comes with a picture of the back. For sale at only € 23.50. I do wonder how people come to these moronic asking prices. |

I always chuckle when I see when they have the Make Offer option. U wonder if I were to offer 4 or 5 TIMES their true value (you know, offer $1) for giggles if it would be accepted. I haven't used ebay as a seller in decades - don't they charge the seller for a listing, or for an unsold listing? Anybody know what an unsold $11,000 lot is charged for listing? |

Quote: Anybody know what an unsold $11,000 lot is charged for listing? Absolutely nothing is charged to list, or re-list. ebay USA offers a couple hundred free listings per month. John |
