So first off I apologize if this is in the wrong forum or wrong topic area. I am a coin collector so excuse any questions that may be sound ridiculous. I found this forum from the coin community forum. I just put stamp where coin goes. Anyways...

I have had this metal lockbox for over 20 years sitting in my safe and it was handed to me from my grand daddy. It is full of stamps, small stamp books, an album and thousands of loose stamps. He collected stamps since he was a kid and long after WW2. Also, my uncle John who died in 1977 at 22 collected stamps. His stamps are also among these stamps in this box.

What I really need is to find is someone to give me an honest assessment on these and in hopes somebody here knows someone in Central Florida who may be interested in helping me out on these. There are stamps from every country pre 1940 and post no later than 1977. I separated all the countries and anything pre 1940, did a lot of digging and researching. Overwhelming. Coins are a breeze compared to stamps.

Here are photos of some of the pre 1940 US stamps from one of the envelopes. There are a lot more.

Anything good in these let me know too! Thanks ahead of time.

Hi Capt Jeff, welcome to the forum. I would recommend getting in touch with the Central Florida Stamp Club, which meets frequently right in Orlando. They also sponsor small stamp conventions/shows where you could bring your stamps as well.

Hello and welcome, Capt!

These are all common stamps, but an interesting beginner selection nonetheless. You have mostly postage regular issues (front of book) and some interesting revenues and postage dues (back of book). Nothing that catalogs more than $1, so overall value somewhere less than $5 or so. This selection would be good for a starting collector. Would be good to save for a family child or grandchild to keep in the family. If your overall holdings are similar, would be a tough sell.

You mentioned having some small stamp books as well. Condition is key, similar to coins. You can scan some more, including the books, and we can provide more information, if you want.

The American Philatelic Society (stamps.org) has a list of stamp clubs which you may find one near you.

CaptJeffWorthFL,

The real value in your box of treasures is that they came up through your family to you so you can be their current stewart. Financialy, they are common of low $$$ value. Sentimentally, they are priceless to you and your family. Please consider keeping them as such.

I'm in similar situation, merging uncle who died young and granpa's collection together with mine. I'm lucky that many times they complete each others. Like others members said, value is sentimental, even if I have some listed around 50$ each, I would say they could sell 5$ each maximum, and without count of time selling them!

I don't have childrens, but eventually, I will search for cousins who have, and will give it, crossing fingers they will do the same. I will try to store them properly, to make it easy for them to take care, even if it is in a box in a locker! Until someone will love them again!
