I have inherited a 1949 Victory Stamp Album full of approximately 500 stamps from all over the world. Is there someone trustworthy I can contact to find out if any of them are valuable? Or can anyone here give me a few pointers on which ones to look out for please? Thanks.

You are not showing any monetary value in the photos.

No monetary value whatever. Not only are they common, the condition of the album and some of the stamps is poor.

Pointers on what to look out for is a massive question, but I would always say, look at how much was spent on aquiring them and how carefully they were stored. Expensive album and properly arranged and written up collection will likely indicate better.

The previous posters are correct in suggesting there isn't much value in what you're showing but I wouldn't throw any of those stamps away except for maybe that damaged U.S. Special Delivery one.

Somebody just starting a new collection could salvage the stamps and transfer them to a new album. Since it is something you inherited is it possible that you or another member of the family might be interested in taking up stamp collecting?

You could sell it on ebay but don't expect to get much. Take a picture of some more pages to include in your ebay listing along with a pic of the album itself.

Good luck!

As it was said, the value of the stamps by themselves is not much, but the value of time and effort that the late collector put into building the collection cannot be measured. After reading a bit in this forum, if you don't find stamp collection to your taste, the best place for the stamps is to be donated to another collector, beginner or novice, to carry on and develop the collection.

The true value of this album and its contents is that they came from a family member or friend who enjoyed making this collection. I would keep them in their memory.

The highest value stamps in your photos are the US:
4c Columbian (1893) in the second to last row
5c Grant blue (1898) in the row above that, last one on the right
Both these stamps are in below average condition, due to toned areas, missing corner, etc.
They are scarcer than what we see in most inherited collections.
The rest of the stamps are worth under 4c each.

You can look up relative stamp values on stampworld.com, but you need to know the year.
stampworld.com supplies catalog values for used "#" and unused "*" condition.
Then you need to apply a factor of 15% or so to reach retail price,
and another 50% factor because they are not in good condition.
I see catalog values of $6.59 for the 4c Columbian and $2.20 for the 5c Grant.
Applying a factor of .075 yields $.50 and $.17 .
So no world cruise this time.

Seeing the number of empty spaces with hinge remnants still in the album leads me to believe that if there were any stamps of any value, they have already been removed, making this remainder even less useful for anyone besides a very new collector, or to keep it for sentimental reasons.
