Can anyone help me identify this stamp? I reckon it's from Persia (Iran) as it has the lion and sun motif, but I cannot find it with the sausage-shaped cartouche below the image.
Just did a bit of Googling and found one of the same design described as "Scott: Revenue: R6291 Year: 1950-56". Elsewhere someone said these were used mainly on passports.
As a rule of thumb that I've learned in this forum, if a stamp is hard to find in regular catalogs, it is likely that it is a revenue stamp. I saw it mostly with non-Latin stamps, like Iran, Turkey, China.
