I found this to be a pretty cover with a 1/4 Battleship revenue. [Perhaps someone can add the correct Scott number for future searches.] Are these solo 1/4 cent revenues common on the taxed item?

P.S. This, PERFUME PACKAGE UNOPENED W/REVENUE STAMP, is on ebay for a few hours more if interested. Currently at two dozen dollars.

It is not my item nor my listing. But for once I can post before it sold. I am usually running behind. IF I collected revenues much**, I would chase this myself but for now I have my eye on a more important to me item. This comment is made assuming the 1/4 solo is not difficult and important as shown.

Edit:

** I do chase the 1917 Documentaries, used on parcel post matter to pay the WW! parcel tax.

Methinks Parcelpostguy will plead the fifth.

I will need to get back to you for that answer in a few days.
See: https://goscf.com/t/84858 for the ebay item in question

I will say it is no where near as pretty as this perfume item and unlike the perfume item it smells. Edit: It is not a revenue item. And again to add the new SCF thread link.

They're not rare, but not common either. The more ornate the printing and design on the packaging and the higher the number of inks/colors involved, the more they tend to sell for. $20-150 is a good general range, with $30-60 where most fall in my experience.

They don't come along with great frequency, so if you're trying to put together a collection of as many different envelopes/packaging designs as possible, it can be a challenge. This is a case where seeking outside philatelic categories and/or shows may pay dividends, as this type of item will also show up with ephemera collectors, trade cards, apothecary bottles, etc.

As stated above, not very common but they do show up from time to time. More often on opened envelopes, of course. $50-$75 item would be my estimate.

Sold for $43.88, not to me, plus S&H and taxes, if any.

Edit: See my prior post above for a link to the "more important" cover. $43.88 would not cover the sales tax on the item.
