I just sold a set of Latvian stamps to a customer in Japan. I am waiting on payment right now. I guess the item is supposed to go through us-sal-006, Shop Airlines. Is there anything I should be aware of? I've never sent anything in that direction. Or used a US based consolidating service for Japan. Thanks.
Interesting. I'd never heard of a consolidation service from the U.S. to Japan before, though I've used services like that many times when buying stuff from Japan (Yahoo Auctions and other Japanese websites). Not stamps, though, which the Japanese consolidation services have on their list of prohibited items for some reason.
Here is a message I got from them yesterday along with their address on the west coast. If you go into ebay and click on them, they seem valid. I'm going to send the item using ebay's system along with insurance. I guess we'll find out.
I think that ebay only wants sellers to ship to the buyer address. You might want to double check this in the ebay policies. Don
Edit: I found this "Sellers are required to ship to the address that comes with payment; shipping to any other address will result in losing any protection if the buyer files an Item Not Received case..."
If you click on them in ebay this is what you get. I've sent some magazines in the other direction through consolidaters in the Chicago area with no problems. In this case the purchaser is a gentleman in Japan but I guess for ebay's purposes it's what shows in the California address. https://www.sekaimon.com/static/abo...hopairlines/ is their website.
Over the years I have had a few sales through us-sal-006. If I recall correctly, on my transactions, us-sal-006 was the buyer, I shipped to their ebay listed address (in the U.S.) and they handled it from there. Didn't have any problems.
They do list the name of the buyer in Japan on the Order Details page. But otherwise they are the buyer. As long as the item makes it to their site in California the seller is off the hook the rest of the way. I need to get it to the post office in the morning.
The post office got it the 15th. It spent a day going in circles in LA on the 18th and finally made it to Redondo Beach today and is out for delivery. Just in time to ride out the hurricane/tropical storm coming to SoCal. But at least it will be in there hands.
