I'm not sure what you're asking; I'd think whatever reference work you're using would have the answers. Are you wondering if you've identified those in your collection correctly?

I believe the descriptions you list come from Freeman & White's "The Numeral Cancellations of Victoria," so that's the work you need to explain the Types. I'm a British Commonwealth generalist, so sorry to say this isn't a work I have.

Paul,

The cancellers used would be replaced from time-to-time. Geelong (2) had 15 types, Sandhurst (4) had 12, renamed Bendigo from 1891, a further 5 types have been identified. Ballarat (5) had 28 different types of canceller.

Hugh Freeman's books are the best reference although Purves produced excellent work in the 1960s. I can lend you the Freeman book if you like.

Paul,

The former looks like MD/22 = 1522, Woori Yalloak, not rated. It has been struck twice with the second strike at 90 degrees to the first.

The latter one is MCCCC/69 = 1469, Eskdale rated S.

Which edition of Freeman do you have? (The second edition has the numeral '121' on the front cover).
