I was reading my Tompkins County Directory from 1869 and saw it has a chapter on how to use revenue stamps. I thought others here would like to read it too:
These were the repeal of the specific Civil war era stamp taxes and the new group which ended several and lowered the rates on some others. Many remained in effect until 1883.
