Why am I now seeing a popup every few seconds begging me to allow ads on SCF? I already see ads and the constant popup is rendering the site unusable.

That's a settings issue with your browser (or something related to a plug-in you may have). Nothing to do with SCF, per se.

classic_paper - The popup is entitled Stamp Community Family. I'm not a techie - is that possible for a third party to do? I have not changed any settings on my browser and have no plugins. I'll run a virus scan to see if something happened. Is anyone else getting this? Thx.

There is no virus. I'll shut if off.

God forbid every little corner of the Internet isn't free and ad free.

I was just asking since I hadn't seen it before and I was concerned about a possible virus or other glitch, as classic paper suggested. I know that websites need support either through donations or ads. And, as I mentioned, I was already seeing ads. And I have supported SCF with monetary contributions as well as holding giveaways to encourage participation and further support for SCF from the winners.

Sorry, not mad at you specifically. I do 100% appreciate the people who contribute either by allowing ads or donating..

It's just 100% pathetic the shitstorm of emails within 15 minutes of turning it on.

People don't want to pay for a freakin' thing on the Internet even if it's passively by just scrolling past a few non-obtrusive ads. Plus the biggest bitchers have never donated a DIME but they sure soak up the site.

Bobby - it would have been ok except that it was popping up in the middle of the screen literally every time I scrolled or clicked on a new thread, which made the site tedious to navigate and read. If it only popped up at the beginning when entering the website or was less intrusive off to the side, it would not have interfered as much.

I am confused. I have always seen ads that are not embedded (inserted by google?) so not sure about a suddent rash of ads. None have been pop ups but placed in between content. I would prefer if I support, the google(?) ads are hidden. No concern about philatelic ads.

I have been a supporter.

It was only supposed to come up once at the beginning of your session to remind. It wasn't supposed to be a nag like that.
