No worries. Your stamp is a precancel and not an overprint like the Kansas - Nebraska series stamps.

Are you perhaps confusing the Kansas and Nebraska overprints with this, which is a precancel of the kind widely used by businesses in towns and cities across the US?

Hello - I'm in London. The Kansas and Nebraska overprints were made for a specific purpose, and only refer to the respective states. Pre-cancels - as far as I know - always show a speciic town or city, in this case, New York City. There are huge numbers of them. See here -
