Scottcataloguepages/EBAY CHIROKMD
2004-2023

Sadly on December 19, 2024, my wedding anniversary, my business of cutting Scott Catalogues came to an abrupt end by fire.

This business ,was on the second floor and my wife's restaurant Nana;s New York Hot Dogs, on the first. Been here since 1964. Stories told about the shop crossed generations Kids were always treated to HUGS (Juice Drink) and Kisses (HERSHEYS). My wife was always referred to as NANA by children and adults. I miss seeing this interaction so much.

The building we have a mortgage on. This was our life and our complete income source..

I suffered burns to both hands, shoulder, and face getting my wife out. Apparently I caught fire. I will heal physically.

I always called this the perfect job. I will miss everyone

Love you all,

Rich

Rich - I'm so sorry for what's happened to you and your wife. I hope you both recover well - sounds as if your daughter's determined to have the business back on its feet!

Rich and all,

OK, what can board members do to help Rich restock his business when he is ready? Rich, what would you need to get restarted when you are ready?

Prayers and best wishes you endure minimal physical misery during a speedy recovery. Let the board know how you progress. What else can we do to help support you, your wife and daughter?

Best wishes for a prosperous new year.

Russ

Considering the thread title that suggest this is news 'received,' is Rich the same as member Timm?

Along the lines of NSK's post, the *title* to this thread is nearly identical to Facebook posts of hacked accounts wanting you to click on an accident video, etc. My first impression was that this thread was posted by a new-joiner in the middle of the night wanting us to click on a vandal's post. The title fails to comunicate any important facts and mimics spam posts.

Sorry Don, but I also agree with NSK, I had to read the post a second time to differentiate between the poster and the message. It is *not* as clear as it could be.

To clarify:

I do not think they are the same person. I also do not doubt the intentions of member Timm.

I did get the impression one or two posts suggest people do think they are the same. But that is my interpretation of their posts.

Timm has been a member here for over a decade and is from the West Coast USA. He has been solid member and contributor but posts mostly in the Cinderella topics. While he often stays bit below the radar (in terms of participating in the more drama filled threads, I trust him.

Given this when Timm first started this thread, I did my Moderator job and dug a bit deeper to ensure that nothing was amiss even through Timm's reputation is spotless. I have been doing this job for many years and the time suck required to check out every post/thread is significant. I am unsure why people do not have more faith in the job that Staff does in keeping this community safe.

I agree that Timm could have used the quote feature to make the post clearer. I considered adding it myself but dislike changing people's posts and try to avoid it when I can. I have taken the time to make a video on how to effectively use SCF text box including how to quote. I am not sure what else I should/could be doing.

From his posts, so do I.

I did not doubt that at all.

I do not think it was required you should do anything or could have done more.

When I first posted the message it never occured to me that people would assume it was about me.

First off the title says "I received this message"

The message I received was from Richard Fest as stated in the beginning of the message (https://scottcataloguepages.com/) is a long time vendor of Scott Catalogue pages on ebay.

The message is signed "Rich" NOT TIMM

I have purchased his catalogue pages for many, many years and had been extremely satisfied with ALL of my purchases and fast deliveries.

I too wish the Best for Fest and that his business are up and running very soon.

Once people click on a post, I imagine many of them (including me) forget what the title was. If it's important to know it, I'd repeat the title information in the post itself: "I just received this information . . . (etc)" and I'd also put it in quote marks since that's the generally-recognized way to indicate you're using someone else's words. Sorry if this sounds annoyingly pedantic, but I was a long-time history teacher who had to deal with these things all the time, so forgive me for being "teacherly".

Far more importantly, it's seriously too bad that Rich has lost his wife's (and his) family business as well as his online Scott catalogue pages business. I purchased country catalogue pages from him many times, and it always went very well. Maybe insurance can help rebuild what's lost? Hope so.
