Royal Mail has been issuing stamps celebrating iconic Britsh pop stars. You may or may not like the music of the bands and singers that appeared on previous issues. It, however, is difficult to deny they are considered 'big' names.

The newest stamps celebrating a British band will be released on 11 January.

Ginger's stamp in the strip of five does not even require the King's profile to identify the issuer.

I am fairly sure my now 34-year-old daughter has several Spice Girls "action figures" (dolls) in a plastic tote in the attic, which we were told to save for their future "collectible" value. I think she would actually love to receive a letter from the UK with one of these--they will trigger nostalgia in several generations!

Well you can order her the whole pack of collectables through the link provided.
It remains to be seen if many post offices will stock them.

Even Dutch public TV news carried an item about the stamps.

Or you can ask family or friends in the UK to buy the cards and stamps, affix one to the other, and send them through the mail.

In late 1996 & early 1997 I was deployed to an undisclosed middle eastern country and was living in a tent. I ended up traveling to another undisclosed middle eastern country to also live in a tent.

That second location however, had a small "morale" tent with a big screen TV. A few of us were playing ping pong waiting for a second group to join us so we could leave to go do some "work". I looked over at the TV at some point and there were pretty girls dancing in the desert. This was the video for "Say You'll Be There", which has pretty girls dancing and occasionally driving in muscle cars. What more could you possibly need, particularly when living in a tent in an undisclosed desert? Having come from tents in the desert without TV to a tent in the desert with TV, we abandoned our ping pong game and were fixated on the screen. While we had heard Spice Girls songs on the radio, we had never seen the Spice Girls. That day several of us bought the Spice Girl's first CD, "Spice" at a store in the town nearby.

Saw this topic and had to go dig out that CD, as I still have it. Note the sticker at bottom left. "North Africa, Arabia and West Asia - Not for sale in the EEC and EFTA".

My version has the same songs as the "normal" CD. My guess is the graphics are toned down?

I still like the CD, but not enough to buy the stamps
