Hello,
I'm hoping someone can verify the accuracy of my observations regarding a potentially rare and historically significant stamp. Based on my research, it possesses several unique features that suggest it could be of considerable value.
1. Early Date and Significance: The stamp is postmarked from Co. Dublin on August 3, 1921, at 5PM. This date coincides with the very early days of Irish independence following the signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty in July 1921.
2. Unique Characteristics:
Rare Color: The stamp has a deep orange color that appears to be a [specific shade description], which is different from the typical shade used for this issue.
No Overprint: Unlike most stamps from this period, this one lacks the "Rialtas Sealadach na hÉireann 1922" (Provisional Government of Ireland 1922) overprint. This could be due to its exceptionally early date.
3. Inverted Watermark: An image of the stamp (Images are below) clearly shows an inverted GVR and crown watermark, adding to its rarity and potential value.
I would be immensely grateful if someone could verify my observations and provide further insight.
