Found this Confederate #3 in a collection recently and I was doing some reading up on this. Seems legit to me from what I have been researching but looking to see if it's worth sending in for a cert?

Thanks all.

It is most likely a facsimile. I recommend reading the page below:

Thank you Classic Coins.

Yes, that was one of the pages I read.
Here is what it said about #3:
The CSA #3 facsimile is the most dangerous. Again it is the paper that is different. Also, in the facsimiles there are various missing periods after the "C.S.A." and the crossbar of the "T" of "TWO" is usually not connected to the upright bar.
On my example neither of these are true (other than I'm not sure about the paper).

Also, I checked out this site:
http://stampforgeries.com/album-wee...-of-america/

It seems like the description of the forgery does not match any of the characteristics of the posted image.

Just to put a wrap on this.

I sent it off to Trish Kaufmann and she determined it was genuine and made an offer.

So, looks like I made out on this one!

I bid three dollars. Congratulations. That is a very nice copy of that stamp. I'm sure that will happen to me someday. Someday . . . .

Thanks! Gambled and picked it out of a shoebox on my way out the door in Sarasota. Also got a 6LB5 local that I flipped.
The two nearly doubled my investment and still have a ton left over.
