I am confused by these stamps. I read here on the forum that a lot of China stamps made during the 1950's to 1960's were made without gum because (they say) resources. None of these stamps have gum. However, I do see sales on these with gum. I also see sales without gum for "real" stamp prices:

Also, I see a lot of stamps listed as "reprints" on ebay and elsewhere

https://www.hipstamp.com/listing/ch...ery/24692523

Can someone tell me if these are real? They were purchased from a large lot of other stamps from China that I believe are real, including posted covers.

Also, on value: these seem to be all over the place from $1700 to $6,000? If they are real what are they worth? If they are reprints what are they worth?

What is going on here? How does anyone collect China with all these variables?

Thanks in advance for any insights.

I have given up on China because I have trouble believing that anything is real. Sold almost everything I had as one Lot and have no need to buy any more.

I find myself regularly tempted to collect China, then give up. I hate always wondering if what I'm about to buy is even genuine, and I just can't trust anything coming out of China directly.

I'm also unsure where to buy trustworthy China stamps. Xabusiness.com looks ok but their pricing and selection is so-so. I haven't bought anything from them before. Another place that seems ok is the member buy/sell page in the China Stamp Society website. Must be a member to use, and I can only assume buying from an actual stamp club is more trustworthy.
