Hi below are (4) perf 11, US 517 stamps. The top two are red violet and violet. But why would a carmine 517 or washed out violet occur. Perhaps the washed out one was bleach? Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks 51 Studebaker - the article is helpful and clearly shows a violet to carmine/red variation - a color changeling. Although basically worthless - I will put it my binder to show what happens when a chemical or light will do to the stamp.

Thanks again....
