Hi Everyone,

I have got this stamp on a mini sheet that looks terrible. Stamp itself seems not to have creases. Stamp is on a typical stamp paper with a gum, whereas rest of mini sheet is on a rich, heavy and soft, velvety paper and also with a gum.
Any idea how it got creases all over and stamp remaind unaffected.

Thanks

Gum shrinkage, typically from storage in a non-humidity controlled environment.

My guess would be the pressure from the printing plate flattened (compressed) the paper underneath. The gum shrinkage affecting the paper was less over the printed portion.

Thank you billsey and perf12. That was one of my presumptions. Is it realistic that the stamp is different type of paper than the rest of sheet, or it just feels that way because it was printed part?
