This beautiful UK stamp sg254, has the date divided into two cancellations, the upper one can read June 17 but I In botton cancellation, 1902 or 1906...

It was used on registered mail, very likely a parcel: up to 1 lb. and £10, or 2 lb. and £ 5. It could be 1905. A '2' does not fit the shape. I think it best fits '06.' If so, it may be a chalk-surfaced De La Rue stamp.

The 'Imperial Crown' watermark and perf. 14 are the only possibilities for that stamp.

Considering the date, more likely to be SG245a. You should check the paper.

The paper under a magnifying glass looks like this, it looks like it has a layer of long, shiny tangled fibers... I don't have more copies to make a comparison..
