I have a Scott (maybe Prinz) split back mount in my Scott National Album that I would like to remove without tearing or thinning the album page. Does anyone have advice on this? Was wondering if heating it up slightly would help. The times I've done this in the past, I end up thinning or damage area beyond the stamp space. Thanks!

Maybe Stamp Lift Fluid, though I've found this hit & miss.

Freezing the page might work, 50/50.

I have re-used Scott/Prinz mounts in my collections quite frequently. I design my own pages. So, when designs change or unexpected items are to be mounted I need to re-mount stamps. The key is how much of the surface has been moistened during the original mount. I only lightly moisten a thin line at the upper portion of the mount. After a week, the mount will have dried. Then, I can use a spade tong to gently slide between the mount and the page. In my experience, the technique is 85%-95% successful. The mount can then be used again by rotating and moistening the unused side. There is almost always some residue left on the page, because the dried gum film will separate from the mount. The amount of damage to the page during removal will depend on how much of the gum has been used to affix the stamp (less is better), how long the mount has been seated (longer is better), and page surface (smooth page surfaces will release better).
