Long story but I changed banks and checking accounts recently. I got my new bank account number entered on Pay Pal but... forgot that ebay no longer uses them in their payouts. Last week I sold some coin collections and got over $300,
and the customer paid me, mailed them today to him. Turns out the notice and money went to my old bank, they deny ever seeing this and now I got a payout from that account.

What the heck do I do now? Is there a number I can call at ebay to cancel the first payment and reissue one to my new account?

Many thanks!!

Scroll down to the 'Contact Us' button and click on that (you should be logged in to ebay when doing this). The chat window should pop up and the AI can connect you with an agent.

Do you have something akin to the UK's current account switching service in the US?

This kind of thing is all too common across the board. My wife's company sent $38,000 to a vendor in Mexico. The bank sent it to someone else by mistake. They called to get it resolved, there is a 2-3 day period where the bank can just reverse it or something, and even though they called and talked to 2 different people, the bank did nothing and now it's too late and the bank has zero interest in getting that money back. Nobody cares these days and nobody takes responsibility.

That has been clearly demonstrated here in this thread. To wit:

is not an accurate statement but on which denies responsibility. The payment WAS SENT TO THE CORRECT BANK per the instructions ebay had. The fact is the OP, not ebay, failed to update information and thus is himself or herself responsible for the error and need for clean up.

The bank cannot be held responsible for the "error" until it is established that the wife's company personnel sent the correct wire routing information to the bank after verifying that they did in fact possess the correct routing information from the vendor. Only then can one begin to determine that the bank's personnel mis-entered the routing information.

Most such transfer information routing errors are provided by to the bank, NOT created by the bank. Now the sad news is the bank has no responsibility to get the money back or refund it if the error was not the bank's mistake.

I got this resolved today with help from a life savior from ebay, working out of Manila, she told me the bank will be refunding my earlier payment and then resending my payment, also through re coding my payments to the correct bank.

All happy-again.

Be sure the correct updated bank info is now with ebay. In general ebay takes care of business, even when customers screw up.

Again, the title of this thread is misleading and a black mark on ebay which fixed YOURS not theirs, over sight.

For example:

ebay helped get my customer payment back when I forgot to update my banking information.

The note to staff option on your first post should handle this change.

They did. The bank screwed up. The person that they talked to even admitted that the bank screwed up. The bank just didn't do anything about it and are now claiming it's too late because nothing was done within the limit.

Which Bank USA vs Mexico?

As soon as Bank's make any payment the receiving bank does not need to return. Bank Money Transfer payments that I have been involved with have made billion dollar payments by mistake. They are easier to get returned as the receiving bank will normally return immediately because of bank relationships. For non internal payments (not US to US) there is no time limit that return requests are required, it expires immediately after the payment is made.

It is a misnomer that Bank Clerks even look at 98% of payments. These are called straight through payments. The actual cost of making a payment is less that one cent. While payments that bank clerks have to change or reinput costs in excess of $100 per payment. So if there is any issue within the US Bank it is likely caused by the requesting party. or the payee proving incorrect info.

Most Banks worldwide commonly are unable to make international payments. So there can be up to 4 Banks likely at least three involved in a payment for example from the USA to Mexico.
