The cancel on this Argentine stamp says: "E. y C. RESISTENCIA."
What is the "E. y C."? Is it a place? Or what?

Resistencia is a provincial capital in Argentina.

Thank you, NSK, but I didn't find there the meaning of that "E. y C." ahead of Resistencia in the cancel. Or have I missed something?

I have searched for it, but cannot narrow down the meaning of EyC. The 'y' means 'and.' C could stand for Correos but also for Compañía. I cannot think of anything for the E that makes sense with 'and post.' And company' does not really limit what the E could mean.

Then we also have a town with a railway.

It does not make much sense in Spanish, but South-American Spanish can be different.

I cannot say I have ever seen those two words used together in that way before. But it is possible.

I also doubt it. It appears something from more recent years where parcels are considered 'shipping' and letters 'post.'

Thank you both! It's not often that something so mystifies this forum.
